Paper pulp and handmade paper, 58 x 62”
A rabbit child concealment, I poked the embers,
scraped my forehead on the bricks. Brown mole on her
adoptive neck, gold tiger, a blue mole on my hand
could not be scrubbed off, a damp alchemy of strange
phenomena from several lifetimes. Saju (사주)
corresponds with fate. I played a minor role in a saga
with an all-white cast. My birth mother assumably
was a water rabbit. In a playroom, glimpsing a paper
window, my apostrophe—I taught myself how
to hold a pencil, a brush of bristles in the gloam.
