windows dirty hung high strung such bangs such
bashing in the cabin on an island
gently sloping with an edge of sweetness
towards the sea who pocked the lawn with yellow

spots not the dog he’s sleeping early dawn
see sleek and long they’re hauling sea like
up the lawn sea otters looking for some
respite under cabin fur stench rising

mom would be so horrified they’ve always
stayed on docks below these mammals know what
change is birds they want to get in too
or pass on through their beaks hit hard they

cannot see what they don’t know is just
themselves it jars their throats it stuns them
